Dorothy & Toto, Scarlett & Rhett, and Kodak too
Later this year the film classics The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind will be made available on Blu-ray(R). Both of these films, as with most silver screen favs, have a Kodak connection.

When Warner Brothers Studios wanted to digitize these films they contacted the George Eastman House International Museum of Film & Photography in Rochester, New York. The Eastman House is the steward for the original camera negatives for the Warner Bros. film library. This is the film that was in the camera when Judy Garland was clicking her heels as Dorothy and Vivien Leigh was vowing never to go hungry again as Scarlett O'Hara.

Both of these were shot 70 years ago using Kodak film. Most features in Hollywood still originate on film, the most venerable capture medium to date and only proven archival medium.

These classics have stood the test of time because they have been stored in pristine conditions on 35mm film which is the only proven archival medium. Our motion picture film business continues to thrive as the medium of choice for directors and other industry creatives telling stories that entertain, educate, and elicit our emotions. The Eastman House keeps this, and other cinema classics, in a 40-degree vault to ensure that future generations can enjoy these films. It is a bit chilly in the vault but there is indeed, "no place like home" for these films.

Pictures spots are indicated on the park guidemaps.
