What Do You Do with 10,000 Olympic Pins?!

Kodak is bidding farewell to its Olympic association after many great years. This however has surfaced an unintended consequence. Let me explain...

During this most recent games in Beijing I did a rather in-depth (and popular) post called; Twenty Years of Kodak Olympic Pins. Soon after this post went live I got a call from another Kodaker telling me that they had some extra pins in storage and wondered if I would like them. I said sure, I was sure to find a good home for them. Guess what? There were 10,000 pins!! All the same design! And they were from the 2004 Games in Athens!

Here is what they look like:

Here is what 10,000 of them look like!

Our normally very creative band of people here in the office have come up short on ideas for what to do with these. Here are some of their suggestions:

  • Create a unique sculpture?
  • Place them face down at the exit of the parking lot with the warning "Severe tire damage, do not re-enter!"
  • Come up with an over the top photo project for our Tips & Project Center
  • Use them to hang 2,500 pictures on various bulletin boards? (Do the math, it works.)
  • Place them in a time capsule for some future civilization? (I can envision the analysis now, "Obviously this was some sort of precious currency for this civilization.")
  • Give one to each of the developers of the first 10,000 i-Phone apps.

The ideas just weren't coming. If a picture is worth a thousand words 10,000 Olympic pins have to be worth something to someone! That is where you come in - let us know what you think we should do. We welcome all suggestions. As evidenced by the list above we need help.

I am counting on you!
